Hello, I have a query about weighted routing.
Scenario; one Securepoint appliance connected to two routers (A and B), each providing internet access.
There are two default routes, one to each internet access router ('A' and 'B'), each with a weight of '1'.
In this setup, all traffic should be equally balanced across the two links (50/50).
Now suppose a single static route (with a weight of '1') is added for a specific subnet (subnet 'Z') that is routed via only the first internet access router ('A').
Assume there is 100 packets heading to the internet and there is another 100 packets heading towards the specific subnet 'Z';
You now have two possible outcomes;
1) If multipath routing is decided based on link utilization;
100 packets will flow via router A (to subnet 'Z'), and 100 packets will flow via router B (to the internet). Ie. The traffic to subnet 'Z' causes the internet traffic (previously load balanced across both router A and B) to now only go via router B.
2) If multipath routing is decided based on identical matching routes (ignores link utilization and purely uses route weights);
150 packets will flow via router A (100 to subnet 'Z', plus 50 to the internet), and 50 will flow via router B (to the internet).
Can you please clarify what type of multipath routing is used with the Securepoint? 1 or 2?
